Navigating the interactive process under the ADA/FEHA can feel like trying to find your way through the wilderness without a compass, even for the most experienced district personnel.  This session will break down each stage of the interactive process into recommended steps, starting with identifying when and how to begin, and continuing all the way through to our destination: deciding whether, and in what form, a reasonable accommodation will be offered.  In the course of our discussion, we will explore strategies for identifying and resolving obstructions to the interactive process, address and offer tips for avoiding common employer mistakes, and discuss relevant court and PERB rulings.
